Delaware Tourism Hits Record High in 2015

More than 8.5 million people crossed into the First State in 2015 as visitors and tourists, an increase of about 500,000 from 2014 and 1.6 million more than in 2008. Visitors in 2015 generated $3.1 billion, a bump of more than $1 million from the year before. Tourism supports 42,000 jobs in Delaware, making it the state’s fourth-largest private employment sector. In 2008, there were 31,000 jobs attached to local tourism, and since 2014 about 1,170 new jobs were added to the sector. A total of $486 million in taxes and fees for state and local governments were generated though tourism in 2015. Learn more.
