Kenneth McGill

Managing Director

Ken McGill is Managing Director of Rockport Analytics, an advisory, development, and research firm headquartered in West Chester, PA. Ken’s role is to provide research-driven, fact-based perspectives that both reveal and support successful business strategy. He specializes in the many volumetric research challenges faced by travel management, suppliers, destinations, and financial organizations. Mr. McGill has a longstanding track record for generating credible measures of market performance, growth, share, ROI, and relative opportunities and risks. Ken is also Lead Research Consultant for the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA).

Prior to this position, McGill was Executive Vice President for IHS Global Insight and head of its Travel & Tourism Practice. He directed both existing client relationships and spearheaded new development efforts, particularly in the functional areas of market research, economic impact assessment, and resource planning. In his 30 years in economic and strategic consulting, Ken has developed an expertise in research and planning methods that has been successfully applied to business problems in a variety of corporate and government settings. He is particularly known for his work in combining primary market research with traditional economic and industry analysis. Ken has considerable project experience in the gaming, hospitality, attraction, and transportation sectors.

Mr. McGill had been with IHS Global Insight (and its predecessors) for over 18 years, spanning two tours of duty. In between, he worked for ICR Survey Research and AUS Consultants’ Industry Analysis and Marketing Systems units. Ken also spent seven years with AMP Incorporated (now Tyco International) in a number of planning and market research roles. Finally, he did a tour of duty in NASA’s Technology Transfer Office, helping to pass on the discoveries of space research to private industry. Mr. McGill holds a BA, MA (ABD) in economics from West Virginia University.

Jon Gray

Principal

Jon Gray is a Principal at Rockport Analytics. He is responsible for leading innovative research initiatives that empower travel suppliers, associations, and Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) to make informed marketing and planning decisions. Jon has advised clients in a multitude of market and economic research areas including consumer behavior, strategic planning, customer analytics, market segmentation, competitive analysis, and economic impact assessment. Prior to joining Rockport, Jon worked for Vantage Strategy, a strategy and research firm headquartered in Annapolis, MD. Jon is Rockport’s resident expert on survey research, quantitative analysis, and market modeling. In recent years, he has focused these talents on the travel industry, particularly on behalf of destinations, travel suppliers, and trade associations.

Mr. Gray spent five years at Strategic Business Insights (a spin-off of SRI International) in Princeton, NJ where he conducted market research and provided thought leadership for top financial services institutions, universities and government agencies. Additionally, Jon has worked in other research and consulting roles in the areas of technology and public policy. Jon holds a Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude, in Economics from Towson University.
